Did Your Car's Ignition Turn On While It Was Parked?

Learn how to check a GS10 ignition alert in Plaspy, compare report times and confirm what happened without treating an alert as proof of theft.

If your car was meant to remain parked and an ignition alert arrives, check the vehicle, event time and reported location in Plaspy. Then ask the person responsible whether the use was expected. The alert indicates a change reported by the tracker; it does not identify the driver or explain why the ignition turned on.

To receive new reports, the GS10 must be installed, configured and powered, with a SIM that has active mobile data and compatible coverage. You also need an active Plaspy service. To view records already stored, you need access to your account and internet on your phone or browser; you can review them while the tracker is offline, but that does not mean new data has arrived.

What the alert needs to work

The GS10 needs correctly installed and configured ignition detection, power and a working connection to transmit the event. In Plaspy, configure the alert, select the device and check its schedule and notification channel. Installing a tracker does not mean every alert rule is already enabled.

Check the event before drawing conclusions

  1. Make sure the alert refers to your car and read the event time.
  2. Compare it with the latest available report. A notification can arrive after the event.
  3. Review the location and nearby reports.
  4. Check whether a family member, driver or workshop was authorized to use the vehicle.

Illustrative example: your car is being serviced and reports ignition activity during workshop hours. The alert gives you a specific event to ask about; it does not prove misuse. If the place or time does not fit the agreed work, verify the situation before deciding what happened.

What if an expected alert does not arrive?

Check the rule, its recipients and the tracker's communication status. No alert does not prove that the ignition stayed off. If ignition data is missing, ask for the installation and device configuration to be checked.

Arrange an ignition-on and ignition-off test when the installation is handed over, with the car safely parked. Confirm that the event and notification reach the chosen recipient before relying on the alert.
