Plans

A plan is a rate you reuse when you create subscriptions: its price, how often it is paid, the grace days and whether it renews the Plaspy devices. With plans, your team does not type prices by hand and the reminders always tell the right amount.

Plans are in My customers > Settings , Plans tab.

Fixed-price plans or open values

When you create a subscription you choose one of your plans or the Open (custom values) option, where the price, period and grace days of that subscription are typed in. Above the plan list is the Open plans for every user checkbox:

  • Checked: anyone who can create or change subscriptions may choose Open (custom values).
  • Unchecked: only the administrators and the groups with the Administrator privilege on Subscriptions can; the rest choose one of the plans.

The change is saved when you check or uncheck it and requires the Update privilege on Settings.

Create a plan

  1. In the Plans tab, click the round button (New plan).
  2. Type the Name, for example Annual plan.
  3. Type the Price of each period. The currency shows next to the label and is the default currency of your account.
  4. Set the Period: a number from 1 to 120 and Days, Months or Years.
  5. Adjust the Grace days and the checkboxes (see below).
  6. Click OK. Plan saved shows.

Plan fields

  • Name: how you recognize the plan when you give it to a subscription; the messages can show it too. Required.
  • Price: what each period costs, from zero up.
  • Period: how much time each payment adds to the Paid until date. Default: 1 month.
  • Grace days: days after the paid date before the service is suspended, from 0 to 365. Default: 3.
  • The price is charged for each item of the subscription: a subscription with 10 devices pays the price ten times. Uncheck it for a flat price.
  • Renewing extends the linked Plaspy devices: each payment gives the Plaspy devices of the subscription the same new expiry date, and a suspension stops them when the grace days end.
  • Active: an inactive plan is not offered for new subscriptions; the ones that already have it keep it.
  • Description: shown to your customer on the payment page.

What happens when you change a plan

Each subscription keeps a copy of its plan's values. If you change the price or period of a plan, the subscriptions that already use it keep their values until someone saves them again: at that moment they take the plan's current values.

The plan list

It shows Name, Description, Price (with per item when charged per item), Period, Grace days, Renews devices and Subscriptions, which are the non-cancelled subscriptions that use the plan. Check Show inactive plans to see them in grey.

Delete a plan

Open the plan, click Delete and confirm. A plan used by any subscription that is not cancelled cannot be deleted: you will see The plan is used by active subscriptions. If you no longer want to offer it, uncheck Active.

Requirements

  • Privileges of the Plans page: View, Insert, Update and Delete. See User groups.
